Nassau, Bahamas -- All aboard! The SS Hesani set sail on the second night of The Islands of the World Fashion Week (IWFW). With focal colors of red, blue, beige and gold, Hessani Cay’s collection was nothing short of nautical.

Clean cut styles that were as fluid as the Bahamian tides took to the runway in everything from glittering swimsuits and striped racer backs to a trench coat and gown.

Exquisite island relaxed outfits were clearly synonymous with the collection. The trio of designers, Hasna Mettar, Kya Nguyen and Stephanie Gonzalez, say that their line “celebrates the female form while bringing something new to the table.”

In the collection the clothes seemed ready to be ripped off of the runway and worn on any sandy shore in the Caribbean. They kept the fabrics simple by using cottons, jersey and adding pizzazz with sequins, hints of gold’s and intricately placed roping.

They say that their designs target women who live busy lives and complimented a fast-paced fashion-forward lifestyle.

“We want to be the outfit you put on when you want to knock ‘em dead’,” they said.

In the showcase an elegant Pirate-like blue trench coat with bright yellow lining popping at the cuffed sleeve stood out on its own accord as its bold white stitching and rope fastening, really added to the island feel.

Other single items included shimmering gold harem pants, a white empire waist halter dress with a navy blue band and gold rose broach and also a bright colored patterned gown with blue and beige cotton ruffles and draping from the waist.

Kya of Hessani Cay admits that their collection had a Ralph Lauren feel, they said that their overall motto for the show was “Make it work”. And that’s exactly what they did. They worked their way across the fashion seas and landed onto the runway. In the end, if you were stranded on a deserted island you would want to look your best in the Hesani Cay, nautical-inspired Fall 2009 collection.
